Hi I ’m aubrey,

the founder of and designer for Consider the Lilies. I am a Tulsa native and recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I grew up expressing myself through art, whether that be dancing around the living room, writing and singing songs, or designing dresses in my sketchbook, I find joy in creating. Floristry is another way I express my emotions and share beauty with the people around me. I love feminine, soft, refined styles and aim to have each creation reflect the whimsy of nature. I hope you feel understood and adored when experiencing designs tailored to you. I look forward to meeting you and sharing the beauty of flowers!

the beginnings…

I first set about Consider the Lilies the summer after my senior year of high school.  I spent the summer at home, with no plans except focusing on my family and preparing for college. Both my parents are entrepreneurs and encouraged me to start a business in my free time. I thought of many random ideas; starting a t-shirt company, creating jewelry, and even sculpting objects out of clay. One day I landed on the idea of a flower cart and fell in love. We had a family friend build the cart while I thought of the name.

“Consider the Lilies”. The name was taken from Matthew 6:28-33. In the verse, Jesus is telling a crowd to “consider the lilies of the field". The flowers do not worry about how they appear, yet there is no one that dresses more beautifully than them. If God takes care of the lilies, how much more do you think he will care for you? The name came quickly and so did the dreams for this small business. Over that Summer I learned all I could about flowers. I worked at several events, creating bouquets for customers who walked by. It was the sweetest time, but when I moved to college I decided to set the dreams I had aside.

My freshman year I never stopped thinking about my business and what it could be, but I didn’t know how to carry those ideas into college. I was shocked when at the end of the year my friend, who was recently engaged, asked me if I would be willing to do the flowers for her wedding. I was honored but also incredibly nervous. All I had done before this was a few arrangements and handheld bouquets from my cart. But I slowly began remembering the dreams I had been keeping inside. After her wedding I was inspired and decided to keep taking one small step at a time. Over the past year I have had the opportunity to do several weddings, events and classes as I’ve been growing this business into what it is now. There have been a lot of mistakes and lessons along the way, but more than anything, I have seen abundantly the beauty God has placed all around me.

This is what I hope to share through my work. I encourage you to consider the lilies of the field. They possess so much value, but so do you! Consider your own life and how much more you are cared for than the flowers. Out of love for me and you, God has carried our flaws and made us beautiful. This is the foundation of my business and anything I will do in life. I hope you enjoy every creation and moment I share and experience the joy that comes from considering the lilies.

With love,

Aubrey
